Art has always been a part of my life. At three years old, I began writing and illustrating my own stories. Being the youngest child of six, I spent a lot of time by myself. My days were spent reading, drawing, and playing with dolls.

Art has always been a part of my life. At three years old, I began writing and illustrating my own stories. Being the youngest child of six, I spent a lot of time by myself. My days were spent reading, drawing, and playing with dolls.
Almost 22 years ago, a mother of 3 boys and pregnant with my only baby girl, I asked God to give me a way to help my family, which was struggling at the time. I woke up the next day and knew that I could make dolls. I never could before, nor did I know how to sew anything other than a running stitch. But God showed me this new wonderful gift, and I've been thanking him ever since.

Although fabric is by far my favorite thing I use many different mediums, such as acrylics, paper, buttons shells and other found objects. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. My Inspiration
Life, in general, is my inspiration. I try to keep my eyes open to the world around me to guide my design ideas. I'm very eclectic that way. I take note of the dominant colors of different cultures as well as the fashion influences of both the past and present. I try to bring all of these things together along with my African heritage for a hodgepodge of cultural diversity.
